The most successful "communities" are those that are transparent, equitable, creative and forward-focused-breakdowns in our organizations are usually caused not by a chink in our resources, but by not recognizing and motivating our people and systems to work together in a productive community. So often in both the public and private sectors, we focus on fixing what is broken rather than celebrating what we can do together. In 2007, I left my career as the CEO of a successful leading nonprofit agency to found this practice, because I believe business success hinges on re-creating how we work to focus on vision, shared leadership, and collective success. In other words, we must re-build work as community!
